Today's News:

Psu and I have watched more than a dozen delightfully crummy Cannon films together.  If it weren't for our habit of staying up late to watch B movies, there wouldn't be a Cassiopeia Quinn, after all (Have you guys checked out Star Crash yet?).

That's why I'll definitely recommend Electric Boogaloo, an Australian documentary about the history of Golan and Globus making movies at high speed, on the cheap. It's on Netflix, go check it out!

Also... please prep yourselves for any dangerously heavy snowstorms you may be in the path of. Take care out there.

- Gunwild

Sorry, there is no physical way that a second page will be done this week. And that's even IF the coming blizzard turns out to be nothin'.

I'm in Florida and exhausted from doing stuff all day, so I don't have much to say. Gonna go see Hogsmeade tomorrow, though. I'll tell you how it is. Also, the Carousel of Progress song is my jam.

Man, I feel like I've been out of it this week. This page took a lot longer than I had expected it would and you can note just how late we are with posting. Anyway, by the time we update again, I'll have finished up a guest comic for a certain couple of friends of ours! I'll update this newspost when that goes up later next week!

Just in case anyone else came here from our Blaster Nation guest page to give me a piece of their mind: no, I didn't hate The Force Awakens. Learn to take jokes, chums, you'll have more fun. Also, welcome to the comic! We're happy to have you!

- Gunwild

This page was takin it out of me. Lookin at it I'm really happy with the result but there were so many fiddly elements that took so much time on the way to getting it done. Still, I think it gets the important stuff across. Not to mention Theira's creepy teeth. To be sure, no one's quite seen the full measure of Theira rage just yet. I think she still counts as "cute" by her species standards.

Anyway speaking of xenos, I got to reward myself for a couple days of drawing marathons with the new Xcom! Oh my gosh it's really really good. And it's super nerve wracking. And it's like they read my mind on what would make an excellent Xcom Enemy Within sequel. Good job Firaxis. I'm going to loose a bunch of hours to this one I'm sure.

Today's News:

Did every watch the Super Bowl?! I kinda did. Sorta. Really I watched Key & Peele's coverage with the game muted in a little window. Sure, it was totally unofficial, so they couldn't say the names of the teams, or describe what was going on, or refer to particular players... but I feel like I found out exactly what I wanted to know! Like how good sports psychologists are at diagnosing father issues, and so on.

Today I'd like to call your attention to the current Humble Books Bundle, which features, among other cool things, Garth Ennis's The Shadow story for a pay-what-you-want price. I bought that issue-by-issue as it came out for four bucks a pop, I did, but lucky you, you can get it for any amount. And it even benefits charity!

Hey, go check out the Blaster Nation guest page we did if you haven't! And Blaster Nation in general!

- Gunwild

Important note, I'm gonna be upfront with a not-insignificant retcon with you guys. The ship that Zeke and the Orphans are in, got a major facelift. Frankly, I was never fully happy with the design of Cassiopeia and Zeke's cruise ship "The Damselfly." And for months I kinda had on file only a design that I felt was half done. So when it came to that page when I finally had to put it on a comic panel, I went with a kinda half baked design that I definitely didn't like afterwards. So now you're looking at the new and improved Damselfly design. I think it's pretty spiffy, don't mind the big open bay door in the front right now...

On a much more important note, I'm going to take a few days off to finally rebuild my PC. I'm not gonna buy too many new parts, it seems like I don't really have to. But it'll be nice to have a fresh install of Windows. I just have to make sure I've got everything properly backed up and logged away! I'll see you guys on the flipside of that.

I really didn't want to be doing one page a week at this point but I've been plugging away at this pages as well as health and sleepiness have allowed. Anyway, it's still nice to get to have Ison make an appearance. I guess it was too dangerous to join an away mission. And besides that Bomber appears to only have three seats!

Today's News:

So this week I've been trying to up my productivity in terms of comic script pages... a lot of it is really just practice (I don't even know how to show the fine folks with the license my Assassin's Creed comic story), but hopefully it'll sharpen my skills. Like, I want the rest of this chapter of Cassiopeia Quinn to come out really tight and efficient, instead of stretched out over pages and pages like I sometimes make it. I want each one to feel important!

I'd like to make my decent deed for the day linking you to  Rocket Crocodile's Action Squad. What the hell is that, you ask? It's a donation drive by the guys who make the Flophouse Podcast (which I've recommended before) that benefits the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention! I've donated to it already, and as it turns out, after March 18th however much they raise will be matched, dollar for dollar, by anonymous heroes. That's some suicide prevention bang for your buck, am I right? Yes, I am. So, just saying, if you were already planning to do some good with your pocket change this week, this is a way to take it as far as it can go!

Hey guys, sorry for the late update and the fact that it's in a very rough black and white format. I'm gonna try and get this colored shortly. But this week was really rough on me for reasons I'd like to be vague about. In any event, it was really hard to make art.

- Psu

(update) 8:51, 3/6: Added some proper shading. Colors to come later. Sorry guys.

Waldo! It's a thing. Check Wikipedia if you like.

Ooo, I think Clawlossus is the first character to get seriously injured on-panel? I mean, Vanaa can just scoop themselves back together from even severe dismemberment. Well, he won't be the last.

This week I'm gonna recommend a cartoon I initially stopped watching after the first episode, Star vs. the Forces of Evil, about a fightin' magical girl who sets stuff on fire and so on. The second half of the premiere just kinda didn't do anything for me, but carrying on, its first season delivered on its premise in some ways I didn't expect from a Disney TV show. So, yeah, glad it's renewed.

- Gunwild

Don't kid yourself, Peia. We all know the real Priceless Wonder here. (spoiler: It's Clawlossus.)

Hey, it's those stasis-electricity-gauntlet-dealies from Mercy's first appearance!

My associate is shy and not going to tell you this, but you should look in the back of the issue of Monstress that came out this week for some cool Psu-made fanart. Fun!

I don't really know what to do with my social media accounts. Sometimes I feel like it'd be good just to be a hermit again for a while. But that's not really viable. I have you guys to talk to! And a patreon to support! And people need to know my opinions on junk!

Anyway, this is the first page I've finished ahead of time in long time, though that's only because I've set up for once a week. That isn't something I like doing! But hell, the page is alright. And it gives me time to do some other things that need doing. Like taxes...

Anyone up for those DC Rebirth comics they were announcing creative teams for yesterday? Christopher Priest on Deathstroke... I've been waiting on another Priest comic for about twelve years now, I think. His Deadpool and Black Panther runs were very, very important to me. You figure those characters got so important, simultaneously, that he was awoken from some kind of comics-slumber to walk the earth again?

Uh, not trying to make some kind of joke about the holiday, there, just wondering if the timing while both of those super-people will be on the big screen is a coincidence...

- Gunwild

Sorry, the current page is taking a bit longer in the production pipeline than I expected. But there was also a holiday we could do a comic about. We'll try to get two pages out this week, so you won't have to wait too long to get your serving of the adventures of Clawlossus and Friends. See you then, as long as my allergies don't descend on me vengefully this week.

I bought a bottle of coconut-scented hand soap but it's too tall to sit on my sink without hitting the medicine cabinet. Clearly, I'm having a very difficult week and deserve a lot of sympathy for these serious difficulties!

Hey, have you guys ever checked out Bakuman? I've only just started but I think I really like it... can't afford to buy it all, but luckily my local library system's got it! Support your libraries, guys. I mean, especially if you live near me, so I can read comics.

- Gunwild

I figure I really should talk about stuff more often. It's not usually in my style but I suppose a couple times it's okay. I really haven't quite gotten the grips of this social media thing. Sometimes I think it's just fun to post something like what I made for dinner on twitter. On the flipside of that coin, I'm supposed to be networking or using my art to gain greater exposure.

I'm not really a fan! I kinda don't like bothering with that kind of stuff. There's all kinds of potential blowback and there's a lot of work when it comes to coming up with what to say.

At the same time, it can also be nice to talk to you guys now and then. Even if it's in this one directional way, like a conversation through a megaphone. So thanks for reading. But more importantly, thanks for reading the comics.

Today's News:

You know, as much as The Jungle Book and The Second Jungle Book are really important things from my childhood, I'm not sure we needed a live-action remake of, specifically, the Disney animated version. I'm not saying it was bad or anything, just that if you haven't seen Zootopia yet, Zootopia's a better movie. By which I mean a great movie. In fact, even if you did see it, you should probably see it again!

- Gunwild

A couple pressing family business came up over the weekend and I'll have to spare you the details. They're personal anyway and I'll have to keep them that way. But they're not the only reason the page is late. It's been a stressful month and we fought to get this page just right between us. And it came out pretty nice. Some rough patches in the art though, I was pretty out of it drawing a couple nights.

On less pressing matters, sometime before the end of April, I'll be releasing a little sketch collection of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle's April O'Neil from the 1980's I did for fun with the help of a few artist friends. It's very pinuppy and rather NSFW at times, but nothing like super "adult" is how I would describe it. And I'll update this text and my tumblr and twitter of where to get it once it becomes available. It should be quite nice once finished.

Today's News:

And we're back! With... yet another reveal of someone using the main characters as pawns in a scheme of sort, because I like that kinda thing, evidently. You all thought he was really there for Cassiopeia, right? That worked, I hope? Okay, then.

You know, in the face of a bunch of disappointing reveals about upcoming things I should have been excited for, the Dawn of War III trailer was a pleasant surprise. And not just because I had no idea the game was in the works! (I filled out a Sega survey last year and specifically asked for it – did they decide to grant my wish? If that's the case, where's Skies of Arcadia 2?)

The preview itself is a tad surreal for my tastes, but it really offers a promise of what the fans want to see – huge-scale sci-fantasy warfare that's so absurdly grim you'll have to laugh (just like one of the evil, extra-dimensional gods swallowing the galaxy). Compare that to the Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare trailer becoming the most-disliked gaming video on YouTube, and I don't really know what to tell you, except that sometimes you've gotta give people what they came to see, yeah?

That being said, our next update we'll feature something you definitely don't wanna see! Unless you like for more sad stuff to happen to nice characters. Do you like that kinda sad stuff? Well, come back either way for the last page of the chapter. Then we can get back to some proper silliness!

- Gunwild

It occurs to me that Captain America: Civil War has come out today. I've been so out of it, I failed to make plans. For many normal human beings, seeing a movie on the first night of release isn't THAT big a deal. But to me, this was definitely unusual. I missed a lot of things the last week. Sorry bout that.

Whew, finally http://www.cassiopeiaquinn.com//comic/christmas-2014-part-1">folded http://www.cassiopeiaquinn.com//comic/christmas-2014-part-2">these http://www.cassiopeiaquinn.com//comic/always-shall-be">into the story.

Overwatch is not my kind of Video Games. I'm a big wuss who gets stressed out by the competitiveness, I guess! Well, that's my excuse for being a sore loser... it's very good stuff that a lot of people will enjoy, but it's just not for me.

What IS for me, though, is Uncharted 4. I won't spoil the story, of course, but I wanna mention that so far, everything they've brought in that's new to the series is integrated very well, as compared to say, throwing the Batmobile in all over Batman: Arkham Knight. Hell, even in some situations where you can use the new grappling hook, it's not the only solution to things! All the returning mechanics are polished up even further, too. Plus there's utterly specious mixtures of history and legend leading to adventures in sumptuous surroundings. That's definitely my kinda Video Games.

- Gunwild

So I've been thinking, about a lot of things, but I'll let you guys in on this one. I feel like I must've mentioned it before, but I think I should take seriously a more concerted effort to maintain a presence on the web beyond just posting comics. I'm generally too lazy and not industrious enough to develop my own website but I can better utilize what I do have already.

It wouldn't take any work at all to start using DeviantArt again as a repository for general artwork. I still have other places I could post more adult work should I need to. Twitter will still be the place I end up posting photos of dumb plates of food I make. But Tumblr I could end up using a bit more outspokenly. And I might even do that thing where I reblog people I like. Wouldn't that be something.

Anyway, gosh... that was a fairly lengthy chapter. And everyone seems to have left a little sadder than they went into it... hooray?

Today's News:

Everyone but me is playing Overwatch. But that's okay, because I finished Uncharted 4 and was satisfied with how it went! A full recommendation to all fans of the series.

Boy, there's a lot of Twitter outrage over the first issue of the latest Captain America volume, huh? It's in my pulls and I haven't gone to the store to pick it up yet, so of course now I'm completely spoiled. Thanks for that, people who don't even buy comics. Well, serves me right for using Twitter, I guess.

I wonder how all those angry people would react to the 1965 story where he switched sides in the war and the Red Skull introduced him to Hitler. Or that 1979 one where he joined a white supremacist organization. Or even the 1975 arc where he was so fed up with Nixon he quit Captaining for America altogether 'cause it wasn't worth doing.

Crazy plot developments happen in superhero comic books, is what I'm saying. If you actually want to get angry at 'em, you'll never have time for anything else. Besides, you could be reading cool non-superhero comics like Dreaming Eagles or Monstress if that kinda thing bothers you so much!

You guys probably don't care to hear me yammer about comic books. Hey, did you ever notice that the pilot seat of the Damselfly is a loveseat so Cassiopeia and Zeke can pilot it together?

- Gunwild

You'd think space-age heating coils would find a safer way to radiate heat, but what do I know about mechanical engineering? I draw butts in space for pete's sake.

Anyway, I'd also like to point out to my fans over here that I'm currently selling a small pinup book, it's the one I mentioned a few weeks ago about that April O'Neil lady. I like to think it came out pretty nice! It's got some suggestive situations in there that I think seem pretty related to her Saturday morning adventures. Today's News:

Food Wars: Sokugeki no Soma is basically Yu-Gi-Oh! with cooking battles instead of a card game I don't understand. The stakes are ridiculously high over stuff like whether or not someone will be able to bread a meal in time, and I kind of love it. I mean, I don't know how to cook either, but that's not the point!

- Gunwild

I hope my Patreons forgive me, but I felt like I wanted to share what I said about the page there with you guys here.

This is probably one of my favorite pages in a while. Not least because I think I'm fond of painting "grey" scenes like this. New Jersey is "beautiful" in a different way than some other places can be. It's got a mix of colonial, industrial, urban, suburban that lend itself to a very divisive landscape. And when it rains, but then the sun comes out, it's something of a special sight.

It was fun coming up with this page cause I never once questioned what the first panel would look like. I probably could've gone much more science fiction-y with the top panel, but then that would kinda betray the "normal" feel I wanted to get across. It's a moment with no space cops or pirates trying to chase anyone. I think it's something I liked about the last page too. The "Zeke heats up gag" stole the show but ultimately I wanted something about that feel of being a kid and falling asleep in the back seat on a long vacation drive. It's a very specific, very evocative, feeling that I hope came across.
